Information We Collect
Location Data
The Daily Drip requests access to your device's location solely to retrieve local weather conditions. Location data is:
- Used only while the app is open (foreground only).
- Sent to Open-Meteo's API to fetch weather for your coordinates.
- Never stored on any server operated by The Daily Drip.
- Never logged, retained, or associated with your identity.
No Account or Login Required
The free tier requires no account, email, name, or identifying information. There is no sign-up form.
Crash & Diagnostics Data
The app collects minimal, fully anonymized crash reports (device type, OS version, app version, stack trace). These contain no personally identifiable information.
What We Do NOT Collect
How We Use Information
- Providing weather data — coordinates sent to Open-Meteo for local forecasts.
- Displaying advertisements — Google AdMob serves banner and interstitial ads to free tier users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data.
- Processing subscriptions — handled by RevenueCat and Google Play Billing.
- Improving stability — anonymized crash reports help fix bugs.
We do not sell your data to third parties. Pro subscribers see no advertisements.
Local Storage & Device Data
The following is stored exclusively on your device and never transmitted to our servers:
- User preferences — selected activities, active sport, temperature unit, visible metrics.
- Activity routes — tracked routes, saved locations.
- Checklists — checklist items and completion state.
- Cached location — last known coordinates for faster app startup.
Third-Party Services
Device coordinates are sent to retrieve weather forecasts. No account info is shared. Open-Meteo is free and open-source.

Data Retention
- On-device data — retained until you uninstall or clear app data.
- Crash reports — anonymized logs retained up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Subscription records — retained by RevenueCat and Google Play per their policies.
Your Rights (GDPR & Beyond)
If you are in the EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access — request confirmation and a copy of any personal data we hold.
- Erasure — request deletion of any personal data.
- Portability — request data in a machine-readable format.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Restrict processing — in certain circumstances.
- Withdraw consent — revoke location permission via device settings at any time.
Legal basis: Location data — explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Crash reporting — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Children's Privacy
The Daily Drip is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us at support@thedailydrip.app.
Security
- All API communications encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- API keys use Android's encrypted storage.
- We do not operate databases containing personal user information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the date at the top and post a notice within the app for material changes. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
